36 Hours in Paris | Paris, France Destination Wedding Photographer | Alicia Yarrish Photography

Paris, France: La Ville-Lumière

If you’ve known me for more than a day you know I love Paris! Actually, just anything French. I am consistently fascinated by their culture, language, and overall vibe. It’s why I offer Paris Anniversary Sessions and why I encourage people to capture their love in such an amazing city!

Even though it’s not wedding season just yet, I’ve been feeling extremely overwhelmed recently. Overwhelmed about upcoming projects, tasks, and just business in general. Overwhelmed with life. Just- overwhelmed.

Last Wednesday Teylor looked over at me very seriously and said, “Get out of the house and go to France this weekend”. Who was I to argue with that!? I immediately called my friend, Brittany (who also happens to love France), and asked her if she’d like to come along! Although, if you ask her she might say I told her we were going to Paris on Saturday 😉

Even though we walked 20 miles in two days, drove 8 hours, took 2 train rides, and made 3 wrong turns it was so refreshing! My body is aching this morning, but my soul is refreshed, renewed, and ready to tackle the week and my massive to do list! Isn’t that funny how a place can have that effect on you?

And my favorite thing about all of this? Teylor knew exactly what I needed! One of the many reasons I love him!

36 Hours in Paris, France

What in the world do you do with only 36 hours in Paris?! While I 100% recommend you having way more time in my favorite city here are some tips to get you started.

Get out early

Beat the other tourists and see the city at it’s best- sunrise. Not only will you make the most of your 36 hours in Paris you’ll get a peaceful start to your day. Early mornings in Paris are my absolute favorite. The air is crisp and the tourists are minimal! (And the cafes are ready for you!)

Be selective

Pick a few big attractions and commit to those and save the rest for another trip. This is really difficult because it’s human nature to see everything, FOMO anyone? To experience the city though, I recommend picking a few monuments that you’ve been dying to see! Maybe it’s the Eiffel Tower or The Louvre (spoiler alert- to truly experience the Louvre you’ll need to devote the day to it!). Let’s pick the Eiffel for an example. Walk around the 16th Arrondissement and not only see the ‘straight on’ view of the tower, but the charming streets that provide you with breathtaking views!

Make time for cuisine

Eat a croissant and sip a cafe creme every chance you get! Like, a lot. Every few hours stop at an adorable Parisian cafe that catches your eye! When is a cafe creme a bad idea? Literally, never. Be sure to see what small bites, snacks, or pastries the cafe offers to go with your delicious caffeine! Bonus: a little rest, caffeine, and sugar will keep ya fueled for the remainder of your 36 hours in Paris!

Paris, France: The Photos

I never go to France without my camera. This time though I gave myself a challenge- to primarily photograph Paris on film. I usually shoot 80% digital and 20% film. This time it was just the opposite! I’m so excited to get my film sent off today, but for now here are some digital photographs from Brittany and my 36 hours in Paris.

Want my personal recommendations for where to go, what to see, and how to dine during your 36 Hours in Paris? Be sure and look at all the photos because at the end you can grab my personal itinerary!

We walked everywhere! I’ve been to Paris countless times and this trip was the only one that I did not take the metro anywhere. We walked and walked and walked some more! It meant a lot more seeing the hidden gems of the city and I’m so excited we did it that way!
