texas a&m engagement session

If you’re a regular on the AYP Journal you already know Zak & Maddie couldn’t get any more adorable in their Austin engagement photos! In case you missed it check out their first location and part 1 of their blog post: South Congress Engagement Session.

Engagement Session at Butler Metro Park in Austin

I happily travel and offer destination sessions! And some locations I’ve done a lot of research on the best spots, like Paris. However, in Texas we’ve somehow done less traveling. So Maddie graciously send over some options she liked the look of and I asked around my network of photographers. We landed on S. Congress Ave and Bulter Park!

And because Butler Park has SO many perfect photo spots it was truly like 2 or 3 locations in one. Hence, Zak and Maddie are getting two blog posts rather than just one for their Austin engagement photos.

I always tell my prospective clients that I’m so fortunate to have such amazing couples in my business. While all of my clients have different personalities and backgrounds- and I love getting to know each of them because of that! They all share some values that are very important to me personally. And as an extension of that, my business. They value family and know that the wedding is the start of their marriage. They know that while they are planning for their day to be beautiful and as perfect as can be the important thing is gathering their loved ones and celebrating their relationship. They are kind and gracious people, always. How did I get so lucky to have these amazing couples!?

Zak and Maddie are absolutely no different. I love chatting with them both as it’s just like catching up with an old friend! So of course during their Austin engagement session, it was nothing but giggles and fun!

Fun Spots at Butler Metro Park

Be sure to scroll all the way through Zak and Maddie’s Austin engagement photos for all the inspiration! Within this one park in Austin there are so many amazing opportunities for a beautiful engagement portrait! There’s a pedestrian bridge, adorable ponds throughout, a jawdropping event Pavillion (for those who love architecture like me!), greenspace, beautiful trees, and as if it needed more it also has a gorgeous skyline view!

Zak, Maddie, Teylor and I have already set a date to come back and go kayaking! Butler Park is right along Lady Bird Lake and it looks like such a fun place to kayak or stand up paddleboard. Although I’m not sure I’m in enough shape for that, but it certainly sounds fun!

All that to say- there are so many great places within one park when you have a creative eye and a whole lot of smiles.

COVID Wedding Planning

While I cannot speak for either of these sweet humans, I can tell you they have had some stressful times lately. We can all agree that wedding planning isn’t the simplest task! And throw COVID on top of it and well, it gets stressful to say the least. So many of my couples had to postpone due to COVID, however these two are on their second postponement going into 2021. Which so many couples have had to do!

If you’re also wedding planning during COVID-19 be sure to check out my resources on how to wedding plan during this difficult time as well as updates on how Alicia Yarrish Photography is responding and moving forward.

  1. I love when photos have the ability to tell emotions, feelings and relationship!

  2. You guys are adorable! We go to Austin every year for the marathon! Was it hot?

  3. These are so cute! You guys are making me wish I had gotten some engagement photos taken now!

    • Aww- I always encourage my couples (well, practically force 😉) to have an engagement session. It sets the tone for the entire wedding day. And allows us to get more photos, faster! Never fear though- you can always get an anniversary session to celebrate your marriage and get variety on your walls!
