Make it a Date Night! Anniversary Session tips to elevate your experience | Alicia Yarrish Photography | European Destination Wedding & Anniversary Photographer

On Wednesday I laid out some ideas of how to commemorate your wedding day with your anniversary session! These ideas are seriously sentimental and wonderful ways to celebrate your marriage, all you two have been through, and look to the future!

Today, I want to talk about a way to make your anniversary session extra special in a more lighthearted way. Combine ideas from Wednesdays post with today? You’re all set for an elevated Anniversary Session!

Brace yourself for two words that are going to get you excited. Ready? Date. Night.

Your Anniversary Session as a Date Night

Because, why not?! There’s never a bad time for a date night, right? Anniversary sessions are first and foremost- fun! There’s a lot of nuzzles and a lot of laughter. Any time you’re in front of my camera you can be sure that I’ll capture the joy.

And after we conclude your anniversary session I promise you two are going to be entirely too excited to go home and binge watch Grey’s Anatomy (although, I do consider that a pretty great stay in date night!).

So go ahead! Use these anniversary session tips and make it an intimate date night! You’ll thank me later.

1. Get a little fancy

You already have this covered! I encourage all my couples to get fancy for their anniversary session. Don’t worry, you’ll do an outfit change halfway through your session and you’ll change into an outfit that’s business casual or a little nicer.

Wearing your fancy attire first then changing into ‘business casual chic’ will provide diversity in your gallery, get you feeling amazing in that fancy dress, and give you the perfect, cute, but not too fancy outfit for your date night!

2. Professional hair & makeup

Having a hair and makeup artist on your side can make you feel like a princess! I definitely recommend a talented hair and makeup artist for your anniversary session. It’s one less detail you need to worry about and it’s a fun way to relax and be pampered!

You’ll be sure to look amazing for your photos and date night with the help of a professional!

3. Incorporate Florals

When I think of grade school dances and the boys bringing the girls corsages it makes me giddy! I’m not even sure that’s still a thing in schools, but I love the idea of florals!

And it certainly doesn’t have to be a corsage. In fact, I love anniversary bouquets! They make you feel all sorts of fancy

4. Make Dinner reservations

Arguably the most important part of the date night, the intimate dinner after your fun anniversary session! Make reservations at your frequented restaurant where they know your name and order or venture out to somewhere completely new!

No matter where you make reservations, choose to use this date night intentionally and celebrate your marriage together!

Looking for the perfect destination for your Anniversary Session?

Look no further! This guide will map out incredible cities for your anniversary session AND give you specific locations within each city that you’ll adore!

Professional hair and makeup! This is a great tip! Flyaways can be pinned down so if it’s windy the hair won’t be everywhere. Also, the pros know what makeup looks best on camera.
