Every job is important. Every job contributes in some way to society or the economy, so every job is important- truly! Some positions however, I’m convinced are extra important, difficult, or special. Teachers are one of those jobs. They have such an important role in our culture. On weekdays, my son is around his teachers more than he’s around me or Teylor. He’s only in preschool now, but that trend will continue until high school! Then he’ll go on to being shaped by college professors likely when we aren’t even in the same city as him.
All that to say I highly respect teachers! Their ability to stay calm and patient to teach these sometimes crazy kiddos just amazes me.
Because of that I give away a session or two each year to teachers! And not to worry- I know there are other brave and overly giving professions and I do special things for them throughout the year as well. When Annie and her family were nominated I couldn’t wait to photograph them. From sweet sweet things parents were saying about Annie and how wonderful she is in the classroom and out I knew they were more than deserving.
These three braved sunrise with me at Eleanor Tinsley Park in Houston before 7am and I’m so thrilled they were willing to! The light we got in their photos is absolute perfection.

This is one of my favorite parks in Houston not only to photograph, but to be at with Teylor and Greyson. There are skyline views, hills to run on, and a beautiful manicured garden area. There are runners, workout-ers, yoga-ers, and our personal favorite strolling families.
I knew it was the perfect spot for a Houston family session! The Bakers’ were able to get extremely diverse photos not only because we started so early, but because in a small area there a lot of ‘backdrops’. Basically a Houston photographers dream!
