The Weather Problem

We’ve had some real intense heat here in Europe the past month, but this past week has been especially hot. Keep in mind- there’s no air conditioning here! It being hot in America usually has a simple fix- stay inside where it’s nice and cool. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here! Our home has gotten over 80 degrees and it’s been nearly 100 degrees outside some days. Luckily we’ve got some tricks up our sleeves to keep the house cool!

The interesting part of the heat is how much it has affected. Some grocery stores are unable to keep frozen or cold items because they don’t have the means to keep food at the appropriate temperature. Chocolate isn’t being stocked or shelved because it’s simply melting. Some storefronts, and especially restaurants, are closing because it’s simply TOO hot. I walked into a pizza place the other day and the entire place felt like an oven. They were about to close early because workers and customers alike simply can’t be there when it’s that stuffy and hot.

Clearly, it’s a problem! There have been reported deaths across the affected areas. I’m assuming due to rapid dehydration due to the heat (but don’t quote me).

We all ask each other how the day is going in passing and the answer is 100% the same- “hot”.  A month or so ago we had extremely bad flooding. The worst in 70+ years according to the locals. Since the floods it might have rained once. This week we are forecasted a lot of high 90s but one day of rain- so here’s to hoping there’s a cool front coming!

The Sessions

With the heat, though, comes the sun! I’ve been so proud of my clients getting dressed and ready and braving the heat for their sessions. All my sessions lately have been so incredible because the sun has been out for all of them- something pretty unheard of here! Usually about half of my sessions each month are graced with the big fiery ball in the sky.

This past week I also got a lot, like a lot a lot, of film scans delivered to my inbox! Being a photographer that uses film can somethings be a crazy process- mainly because I’m impatient and so excited to get photos back. There is no looking on the back of the screen at the image you just photographed. You have to wait a few weeks to see the magic!

So when I got the email at 11pm I jumped out of bed to go see all the magic! They didn’t disappoint and I cannot wait to share them with you! However, I couldn’t help but share a photograph from Alex and Kati’s France lavender field anniversary session!

In case you missed it…
