I was so excited to see Chris and Carrie on their wedding day because it felt like forever since their Houston Eleanor Tinsley Park Engagement Session! Unfortunately, these two were one of my coupes very affected by COVID as their original date was Spring 2020. Luckily all their vendor’s calendars aligned for Fall 2020 and they finally got to celebrate with their family and friends!
Emery’s is such a beautiful place to host a wedding in the Fall or Spring. I definitely see why Chris and Carrie fell in love with it! They wanted a venue away from the city where their family from the Texas Hill Country would feel at home and their Houston family could get away and enjoy the lakeside views while they celebrated.
Both Carrie and Chris thought of everything! They both curated custom gifts for their bridesmaids and groomsmen that were so sweet. The ladies received personalized wedding day robes and wine glasses, while the men were gifted monogrammed leather suspenders. And what’s better- the groomsmen gifts came from Chris! Carrie had no part in picking them out.
Chris chose his Dad as his best man, and as if that wasn’t sweet enough, his speech at the reception had me both laughing and crying behind my camera! The first time I met Chris during their engagement session I asked if he was German. I could just see in his stature and facial features what I saw day in and day out during our four years in Germany. Both he and Carrie laughed and said “Yes!” And Chris’s Dad brought back so many amazing memories for me. It was so touching to see him bring the culture to their wedding day.
During toasts, after his traditional American toast that had us all laughing Chris’s Dad lead a traditional German toast. Or “prost”. It’s a song that’s just so much fun and very difficult to describe- but once you’ve experienced it you’ll never forget it! And even in your first prost experience, you’ll join in- it’s easy, and contagious!
Chris and Carrie’s engagement session and proposal story is featured on How They Asked.
It was such a pleasure to photograph Chris and Carrie’s beautiful day! They planned a fantastic Spring wedding that translated beautifully to the Fall at Emery’s Buffalo Creek. I wish you two the most beautiful marriage. I know Chris will always keep you laughing, Carrie! It’s a true honor to have been by your side on your wedding day and to be able to cheer you on year after year going forward!
