Last week German and American cultures were brought together, two families came together, and most importantly- two incredible people said, “I do!” Rob and Nina hosted their Germany destination wedding last week in the beautiful towns of Wittlich and Bernkastel, Germany. It was such a pleasure to be a part of their big day!
It’s an honor to photograph all my couples weddings, but something about extra intimate wedding days with family and close friends makes me even more grateful.
I knew Nina and I would work together beautifully the moment she contacted me! The care she and Rob took while planning their wedding was so beautiful. Everything from the timeline for the day, the surprises, and details all had meaning. And Nina’s family continued that sentiment with a few surprises of their own.
Rob and Nina truly celebrated the best of both of the cultures they are brining together! Rob & Nina’s ceremony was conducted in German and English (Rob even said his vows in German- and he did it REAL well!).
My favorite moment of their day? Nina’s sister and dad surprised the couple with a Groom’s cake with both the German and American flags and a custom cake topper with a bride and firefighter. In Germany, wooden ornaments and carvings such as their cake topper are traditional and very popular. Their cake topper is truly an amazing souvenir from their wedding day!
Not to mention the traditional German ‘tests’ after exchanging vows! These tests or games are to showcase your teamwork as a nearly married couple. Rob and Nina cut a large heart out of a banner then Rob carried Nina through it!
See what I mean by sentiment throughout their day? The way these two families came together to celebrate Rob and Nina was so touching. I’d be lying if I said I kept a straight face while editing their photos. I have giggled, teared up, and well, cried editing their portraits.
Rob and Nina, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day! Celebrating your commitments to each other was incredible. I wish you two all the best! Herzliche glückwünsche!
