Saying goodbye to PaperBird, hello Me!
You may have noticed a lot of changes around here! A new name that has been translated across social media, a new look to the website that better matches my art, and in general a new feel! Well, I am now formally announcing the new brand! PaperBird Photography has been replaced with Alicia Yarrish Photography– it was a very difficult decision, but I am very excited about the direction! I wanted to give you guys an explanation as well as what to expect from AYP now and in the future.
The thing I didn’t like about the ‘old’ PaperBird is that I implemented things that I liked not loved. I didn’t have a clear direction in place that I followed at all times in all things I did. That resulted in inconsistent sessions and a not pleased Alicia. Sure, I loved all my sessions. I loved how they turned out individually, but when I looked at all my photographs as a whole they were not cohesive, and that bothered me. I have since figured out that I was shooting and editing in ways that I like, but not loved.
I like so many things in the realm of photography. Not all the photographers I look up to and respect have the exact same shooting style, but yet I like all their styles. Those photographers I look up to though have the same style in every single photograph they take.
The new Alicia Yarrish Photography is clean, authentic and classic in all things. I have taken a lot of time to define the attributes of my photos that I truly and whole heartedly love. Things like a light and airy look, simple and natural posing, the lack of props and ‘extras’, interesting perspectives, and genuine moments. I used a lot of tools to help me fully define AYP in terms of look, feel, and mission. What helped me most though was making a vision board! Seeing it everyday to remind me that I like a lot of things, but only those things that I love will define my business and ultimately my art. Those are the things that I deeply love and want for my photography. The vision board has been such a game changer for me.
I have poured my heart into all of these things and making the switch in business names has not been an easy decision for me, but in the end I feel my business aligning with me is the best decision going forward. I appreciate all my clients sticking with me, and I am excited to continue capturing your memories!
As always, be sure and Like my Alicia Yarrish Photography on Facebook to see all the latest news and sessions!
