March went with a blink of an eye and here is APRIL! As much as I feel like today starting another month is just another April Fools joke- it’s not. Which is insane!
March ended with a bang! I hosted a studio family photo day in Downtown Houston that featured a very warehouse setting. When I excitedly told friends and clients they didn’t seem to share my enthusiasm. I finally asked a friend why she wasn’t excited! I was clearly ecstatic about the setting. She said, “…a warehouse just seems really dark and not your thing, Alicia”
It doesn’t seem like it, but I had a really good plan and I am so so happy with the results! I was able to still achieve my ‘light and airy’ style even in a warehouse!
Going into it, I hadn’t seen the space so I wasn’t sure how it would go, but I was well equipped with tools to create my own light if the situation required.
I hate to admit this, but this was the first time I shot any family sessions inside! I photograph lots of events inside and a good portion of wedding days inside. However, family sessions have always been an on location type of session for me.
Needless to say, taking indoor family photos in Houston was a fun and challenging day! I’ll be showcasing those images soon.
Family photos wasn’t all that I accomplished on my studio day! I also had a gorgeous bridal session in the studio and it is absolute perfection. It’s under wraps now, of course, however when the time comes to share they will be everywhere!
But wait there’s more– I’ve just always wanted to say that. Really though, I also had a commercial client come in to the studio for photos. The day was absolutely filled with sessions!
I will definitely be renting a studio again for family sessions and more. It was so fun to photograph in a setting so different than what I am accustomed to. Also, it was the perfect decision for the day! There were storms on and off throughout the day that we were able to avoid being inside!
