The plan was to photograph Ronnie and Natalie’s initial meeting at their homecoming, but when you’re talking about a military homecoming- plans change. And as a military photographer, I’m completely accustomed to this! Ronnie’s return date had been changed a few times then all of a sudden he texted Natalie that he was coming home that night, which happened to be one of the original dates we had disregarded!
I know Natalie was so excited to receive that message, but she also had to be a little anxious while getting ready! Ten pm came and went, midnight rolled around, and he still wasn’t home. Ronnie ended up coming in the wee early hours, and as all the guys are when they return- exhausted.
Because of all of that Ronnie and Natalie opted on a homecoming family session. This was such a great decision! We were able to get their photographs after they had some family time and rested up. Their photos turned out so incredible- the German sun cooperated with us, we found a great location, and obviously, this family brought their A game.
Military life can be so bittersweet. It is beyond difficult to go 6+ months without your spouse, and I cannot even imagine leaving an infant for a deployment! It’s not easy for anyone, but this sweet family handled it like pros. I am so so happy their little family is reunited and Ronnie is getting to enjoy his wife and son (and seriously, isn’t this little man the absolute cutest!?).
Welcome home, Ronnie!
