2018 | Happy New Years | Alicia Yarrish Photography | European Destination Wedding & Anniversary Photographer | Houston Wedding Photographer

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’m so excited to be celebrating New Year’s Eve at home in Houston! There was only one (big) thing missing… Teylor! He flew back to Germany on Saturday so we celebrated a bit early. This was our very first major holiday apart and we’ve decided not to do it again!

I hope you had such an amazing New Year’s Eve whether you celebrated by going out and watching the ball drop in person or stayed on your sofa and snoozed until midnight (You were in good company, Mom life right here!).

How I celebrate New Year’s Eve 😉

#1 Put Grey Down at 6 p.m. promptly, and pray fireworks don’t wake him!

#2 Record the New Year’s Eve coverage of New York City (because I know I won’t make it till midnight!)

#3 Watch a little of the NYC NYE coverage (I just like using acronyms… It’s the military spouse in me)

#4 Yawn uncontrollably

#5 Go to bed at 9 p.m. because I’m all about starting a brand new year rested and ready to conquer!

BONUS #6 Scroll on Insta and Facebook on New Years Day and see my feed filled with amazing announcements of engagements!

The lowdown on my last 2017 week!

• Before baby, Teylor and I would go to all our family Christmases or Thanksgivings in ONE day! We were insane. Our furthest family is two hours away! So we’d start in Coldspring (way north of Houston) and end up in Liverpool (way south of Houston), stopping at all our family in between. These days we are much smarter 😉 Each ‘family’ gets their own day! I was just thinking about that this holiday season and how insane we would be to do it with a tiny human!

• Greyson is kind of a pro at opening presents now! Last year he was happy about the toys, but this year he’s ‘getting it’ much more! So grown up 😉

• Teylor took me to an all grown up dinner to celebrate New Year’s early! He took me to Perry’s Steakhouse, where he proposed four years ago, it was delicious as always!

• New Year’s Day Greyson wore a onesie that said “Baby of The Year 2018” and I’m probably a tad biased… but it’s too true!

• I completed all the prep work for my 2018 PowerSheets! Do you use them? The type A goal setter in me is OBSESSED!

Your Turn! What Did you New Year’s Eve look like?! And New Year’s Day?

Did you celebrate out and about or at home in your PJs? Do you have any traditions on New Year’s Day? Black Eyed Peas anyone?

Oh, and if you have some new bling on your ring finger- congratulations! Becoming engaged is such a fun time in joining your lives together! I remember my engagement like it was yesterday. I’d love to hear your engagement story! <3
