Filled in :
Where do I even begin?! This past week has been an absolute dream! I was in Paris 4 days last week shooting a bridal session as well as an anniversary session. I came home to spend the weekend with my boys and to celebrate a certain tiny humans upcoming birthday, and now it’s Monday and I’m back in Paris! With all this travel, it’s feeling a lot like Summer!
My title for this post is slightly a joke, because even though I don’t live in the city limits of my favorite place- Paris, I’m here more often than not during this season. So what does life look like as a Summer Paris photographer?
My alarm goes off at 4 am nearly every weekday morning and I have to stumble around to find the lights. I generally stay in a different hotel or AirBnB each trip so I never quite get used to finding the switch in the dark! I get ready and head to my first session location. This changes depending on what you and your hubby are wanting to capture in Paris- we work closely together to determine the perfect location for you anniversary session.
I get to our first location a little early and gear up! This ten or so minutes before we meet is so peaceful to me. There’s usually no one around and the sun is just starting to coming up and show a pinkish blue sky. Watching the sunrise over the Eiffel Tower is one of my absolute favorites.
Then you arrive and we start your session! (Want to read more about your anniversary session?)
After your session, it’s lunch time. I find a cute café and then head back to my hotel or AirBnB to get to work! I organize your rolls of film, load the digital photographs, and edit a few sneaks for you to squeal about while you’re wandering the City of Lights.
Usually, after resting and working for a few hours I venture out to meet with friends in the city or wedding vendors. No matter what the plan is, I’m in bed by 8 pm to get ready for another 4 am morning! (Summer Paris photographer life is exciting! Early bedtime and all!)
Wedding days are a little different since they don’t usually start at sunrise. Instead of waking up at 4 am I set an alarm for a more reasonable time. And instead of that cute lunch café, it’s a cute breakfast cafe and I have a relaxing mid-morning in Paris before your wedding coverage starts.
Why is that so important to me? A relaxed morning with no other plans keeps me devoted to you and your big day. I have so much to say about being your Paris wedding photographer, but I’ll let you read all about the experience here!
I mentioned that we celebrated a certain someone’s birthday over the weekend! We celebrated a bit early, but we simply couldn’t wait! We shared an Elmo cake and a whole lot of hugs and snuggles and called it happy birthday! Teylor and I are in shock that Grey is turning two this week. We feel like we’ve blinked and he’s grown leaps and bounds.
He understands so much that goes on around him and acts accordingly in his actions and words. You might be nodding and saying, “Duh, Alicia”, but we simply didn’t anticipate him taking this much in and responding so appropriately at this age.
All that to say- if you have tips on surviving a two-year-old… the comment section is just below 😉
Or travel anywhere! Do you love to get out and explore the world? I always use Booking.com for my hotels and AirBnB for a more authentic experience if I’m going to a destination for the very first time.
Have travel or itinerary questions about Paris? Let’s chat! I love helping friends get to Paris and make the most out of their time abroad!
