On our walk to the first urban Downtown Houston location for their session, Eric asked Itzel an important question. “Do you remember the last time we were here?” She replied “Um, no?” We all laughed realizing the last time they were at Hermann Park was when Eric proposed and Itzel said, “YES!”
Eric originally planned to propose in the Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park, however, due to a last-minute mixup he ended up leading Itzel to the reflection pool where he popped the question perfectly centered. A beautiful area for Itzel to say yes (or “duh” if I’m remembering right!). Actually, Eric and his pup, Ducky, proposed together asking Itzel if she would “marry us”. Isn’t that the best?
During their engagement session, it was the plan to photograph at Centennial Gardens to commemorate the original proposal spot. Unfortunately, we found it closed for a private event. I suggested that third times a charm and we should photograph their first anniversary there!
I had the best time with these two walking around Downtown! Truly I have more stories that still make me laugh than I can fit into one blog post.
These two spend a lot of time in downtown Houston- they both work downtown, their first date was in the area, their first kiss was on an adorable balcony in downtown… So many milestones for their relationship happened within just a few city blocks from one another. After chatting with Eric and Itzel about their engagement session locations I knew we needed a good mix of lush and urban looks. All in downtown Houston of course!
It is a challenge to find great locations in busy areas that aren’t always meant for beauty. However, photographing so many couples in Paris trained me very well and I am always up for the challenge!

Move over Paris…. these pics are gorgeous. Captures the romance in the midst of a busy metro concrete jungle. Clean & crisp, capturing whimsical fun between these soon to be married lovebirds. I also applaud your narration, makes us feel part of the shoot cheering section ☆
