Valentine's Day : A Challenge For Celebrating Your Love Story Every Day | Alicia Yarrish Photography | French Wedding & Anniversary Photographer

Valentine’s Day- it’s not the only day for love!

The New Year came along with lots of celebrating and goals set, then Superbowl swept the nation and social media which can only mean one thing, it’s February! What do you think of when you think of this wintery month? Football? Mardi Gras? Thanking Washington for being born, then great, then giving you a day off of work or school? African American History Month? Lent? Getting ready for March and all of its’ Spring Break glory? There are a lot of really important celebrations and events going on in February, and then there’s some questionably important ones. Anyone thinking of a certain Hallmark holiday?

Some people dread it, and others live for it- Valentine’s Day. I’ve seen ‘broken hearts balls’, singles celebrations, couples celebrations, the ‘I’m ignoring February 14th’ attitude… I have seen it allPersonally, I was the super cool neutral person that never had a date on Valentines. Which never bothered me I can’t lie or else my friends will call me out 😉 My first Valentines Day spent with a man was actually spent with Teylor, my husband, and it was worth all of those other dateless years! We don’t generally get too fancy on Valentines though- chocolate is a given because when does one not need an excuse to eat some delicious sweets?! Other than that we play it pretty low key- maybe dinner out and exchanging small gifts. Why do we do this? Because society told us we should!

As great as the day of love is, my absolute favorite is when Teylor gives me a gift no matter how small or large on a random day! When I don’t think I have done anything particularly amazing to deserve it and it’s not a pronounced day for love. I love celebrating love everyday!

My Challenge to you this Valentine’s Day

So while many other photographers, and businesses in general, are brining you Valentine’s Day themed goodies, I’m instead challenging you. I challenge you to celebrate your love story everyday! An amazing way to celebrate your love is with photography and prints. Seeing your affection and memories in albums, on your walls, or your nightstand every morning and night keeps those feelings in the foreground. I don’t want to give you a psychology lesson, but you’ve heard out of sight out of mind? Let’s do the opposite! Let’s keep our spouses and our affections towards them in the foreground! It can be difficult with all the business and stresses of life so let beautiful prints around your home and the intimate experience of a couples photography session make it just a tad bit easier!

Ready to book your date night love story session with me? Great! Let’s get a conversation started so we can make your date night absolutely perfect!

I love this idea and try to do the same 🙂 I think just being more present + in the moment and recognising each great moment you get to spend together is good too! I have been guilty of taking ‘love’ for granted in the past too but now I’m all for the motto of celebrating <3 everyday + know how good it is for my relationship as well as myself!
