Ways to Keep Wedding Planning Stress Free | Wedding Planning Tips | Alicia Yarrish Photography - Houston Wedding Photographer

I’m a big believer that wedding planning can be fun and stress-free. I know that’s not what the internet, viral memes, and TikTok videos tell us, but it’s true. Wedding planning does not have to be stressful. It can be light, fun, and focused on the memories being made throughout your engagement.

So how can you keep planning your wedding stress-free?

How to Stay Stress Free While Wedding Planning

1. Hire a Wedding Planner

The first step in keeping your wedding planning stress free is to not be the one to worry about the little logistics. Leave that to your professional wedding team. Starting with your Houston wedding planner. Planners can do everything from assisting you in reserving the perfect venue for you to chatting with me about the timeline and aesthetic details.

Having this integral person on the wedding day team that you, your fiancé, your families, and the rest of the vendor team can trust makes all the difference. Wedding planners are a must-have so you can stay focused on the fun decisions that come along the way as well as the memory-making!

2. Have the Right Wedding Photographer for You by Your Side

The second most important wedding professional in keeping wedding planning stress free is having the right Houston wedding photographer by your side. Not all wedding photographers are equal and that’s imperative to know from the start. Your wedding planner will most likely have great recommendations for photography based on your style, priorities, and past experience.

However, if you’re searching for a wedding photographer outside your wedding planner’s recommendations know that you’ll want to check several boxes. First and foremost that you enjoy their personality. After all, you’ll be spending a minimum of 8 hours with your photographer on one of the most important days of your life. So likeability is a very big deal when making a wedding photographer decision.

Next, you need to ensure they are able to communicate well with your planner and vendor team. Photography ties every single vendor together and showcases your day. You need a team player in order to accomplish your wedding day vision and have it documented. Additionally, your wedding photographer needs to be detail-oriented and logical minded. That way your photos showcase the best possible angle of every moment and your wedding stays on time all the while.

And lastly, and possibly what you started with on your Houston wedding photography search- style and aesthetic. It’s a requirement that you love your wedding photographer’s photo style in order for you to love your wedding day photos.

When all of these attributes combine you get the perfect photographer that you can trust. And that lifts a huge weight off you and keeps your wedding planning stress free!

3. Set Aside Time to NOT Wedding Plan

It’s easy to talk about your wedding non-stop, and that can even bring you a lot of joy! However, too much stress over logistics or little decisions is never a good thing. If you find yourself second-guessing decisions or spending too much time worrying about your wedding be sure to take time to stop.

When you set aside time to not talk about your wedding and not do any wedding planning it frees up space for you to just enjoy your engagement. And no matter how long of an engagement you have- it’ll fly by. When you’re not wedding planning enjoy an evening in with your fiancé, go to the spa, or a dinner date night. There are so many things you can do to relax and keep wedding planning stress free by scheduling yourself breaks.

4. Create Wedding Planning Deadlines

To the exact opposite point of the above instructions, create wedding planning deadlines. Mark these in your calendar and create space leading up to the deadlines to actually accomplish the task. Even with an amazing wedding planner and Houston wedding photographer you’ll still have some tasks that need to be done.

Putting those deadlines in your calendar and blocking out time to accomplish the tasks will keep your wedding planning stress free.

5. Don’t Second Guess Yourself

There are so many little decisions to make in wedding planning. Do we choose one venue or several? What kind of chargers will we use? Where are we getting ready? What transportation will we use? Will we have a first look? What accent colors will be throughout our design?

…It’s a never-ending list! Allow yourself to make decisions based on your deep-down instinct and vision for the day. And remember to trust the opinion of your professional wedding day team! Then, once a decision is made no matter how large or small don’t revisit it. Unless there is a seriously good reason why you need to change something, don’t. You made the decision for a reason.

Revisiting already made decisions just delays your future wedding deadlines and adds stress to wedding planning.
